About us

LHS was incorporated in 1999 and is a not-for-profit company wholly owned by five local authorities and three large RSLs - all of whom are represented on the LHS Board.

Our original mandate was to develop a Choice Based Lettings solution for local authorities so that they could free up internal resources for front line housing support activity.

We have continued to develop the original CBL concept and now offer a wide range of related products and services. More than 60 local authorities and hundreds of housing associations use our products.

From our inception we recognised that local authority requirements would be wide and varied. Housing policies vary across the country and, because we work so closely with our customers, we have made sure that maximum flexibility has been designed into our product range. Some product features are entirely unique to us and, because they have been developed with local authorities, they are all practical and very effective.

Obviously our technology is only part of the solution. Its installation and application are critical and, in addition to excellent project management skills, requires an in-depth knowledge of the social housing sector.

Our team have many projects under their belt and understand the issues well. We believe that technology alone is never the answer, which is why we have invested so heavily in maintaining a team to support local authorities and make sure they gain maximum value from their investment in our products.
