Inform your Landlord
When you have found a property you would like to move to and have agreed an exchange with another registered applicant on Exchange Locata, you will need to get your landlord's permission in order to proceed with a mutual exchange both parties will need to provide their landlord with some basic details so that the exchange can go ahead. The information needed is; landlord details of the person you wish to exchange with along with the details of the person and home you wish to exchange with.
Landlords will then follow their own policy and procedure checking details such as any breach of tenancy including any rent arrears. If there are no issues and both Landlords agree the exchange can go ahead. The necessary legal paperwork will be completed to assign the tenancy.
An exchange should happen with 42 days of the request to your Landlord.
